Numbers (and Math in general) have played a big role in my life as a trained Mathematician and (the “beloved”) Math tutor that breaks down a subject that has been labelled by so many as indigestible, monstrous and triggering.
In my (not so) parallel timeline of existence, I meander through and between astrology, Orphic teachings and ancient number theory, which surprisingly brought me to many fertile and mesmerizing crossroads between the three of them. (I'm not the first one, of course.
and are two people I look up to and have recently guided me in my non-linear journey. Check out their work NOW!)As an attempt to showcase one entry point to these crossroads, tomorrow, Jan 26 2025 at 10am ET, I will be presenting at Nightlight Astrology a FREE WEBINAR with the title Profecting with Valens. In this presentation, I will be:
touching on the basics of the most popular version of Annual Profection, a timing technique that attributes one sign (and hence one house and one time lord) to one year)
unearthing alternative add-ons to this technique found in the works of Vettius Valens (a Hellenistic Astrology from the 2nd century CE) that allows for an expanded symbolic read of a year in life
share some examples that illustrates how these add-ons work
connecting these add-ons to patterns and hidden structures of the numbers, which brought me to a generalized hypothesis on timing and numbers
These add-ons will allow us to argue that life does not repeat itself completely every 12 years and unveil how patterns in numbers hint at hidden "structures of time” in life.
Hopefully, this is going to open up your appetite for some Math through the lens of Astrology! I promise this is not about calculation of planetary positions, house divisions, declinations, etc. You just need to be remotely familiar with counting (yes, just 1, 2, 3, and so on), the times table (up to 12), divisions and remainder.
