Thank you Raimundo, the Manilius quote is beautiful and helpful. The image of the signs themselves in mourning is powerful. I feel that eclipses are a time for inner quiet, reverence, and non-action, very much like the early stages of mourning.
And now reading this again after observing last night’s eclipse, I do feel you’ve captured something here about the very particular energy of this season. The early phases of the Moon entering the umbra last night had a sooty shrouded ominous somber feel, as did the cool distant grey pearl she became at completion. Such a Saturnian mournful vibe.
I'm so glad that this post came just in time and opened up for this wonderful reflection as you gazed at the eclipse! I didn't have the chance to see this one, but your description reminded me of how I felt during my previous observations of lunar eclipses.

Thank you, Bronwyn! That's beautiful! This captured part of what I felt too when I read that quote!
